Neil Gits To Choose Selects

Apart from a few minor tweaks to how I used to do things “before”, I am now fully back in the old routine and rotating my fast food treats on the way to the studio each week. Usually I will stop off at either Burger King, KFC, Subway or McDonalds before my show, though in the nicer weather I often pack a little home made lunch or grab a Tesco Meal Deal and park up in the sunshine / shade somewhere – you can’t be a Superstar Soul Radio DJ on an empty stomach !!

I remember what seems not so many years ago, when my son used to tag along to the studio with me after school & visiting my mum in her care home, we would rotate chain restaurants for a meal before coming in, normally Harvester, Frankie & Bennys, Toby Carvery, Nandos or maybe one of the better pubs that did good deals – how I miss the Fayre & Square brand, along with their huge cheap yummy desserts !! Now Nathan actually works at a local McDonalds, but he has barred me from going in on one of his shifts (!) so I hadn’t had the chance to get back to a mini Monday feast in there so far, although I had wolfed down several early morning Double Sausage Egg McMuffins on my various road trips last year ! On one trip out in the car recently he introduced me to Chicken Selects – OMG they are good … and the BBQ sauce they come with is to die for !!

So last Monday, with Son No:1 safely at home studying for his college course, Maccie Ds it was to re-acquaint myself with the Selects (plus large fries plus a triple chocolate cookie!) and that really did the trick inspiring what I felt was a particularly good show.
