No mention of the extreme heat in this week’s blog …. DOH! … I’ve just done it !! … Anyway, I’ve been doing a lot of hiding away indoors lately, in between my various road trips, and continuing my monster catch up of TV programmes from the last 20-25 years or more. I think that most of the time I am getting in line with the rest of the country, when watching shows like “Peaky Blinders” , but I am never sure if some of the others are universally popular or not as I was always too absorbed in my quiz nights, music and football to notice the big TV dramas getting talked about .
One of my birthday presents in May was a new bath mat (thoughtfully bought for me by A13 Annie in case I carelessly slip over in the shower in my advanced years !) and for it to do it’s job you have to firmly press down on the ‘suckers’ whilst it is wet, which I do by stomping my feet with the water running as soon as I get in – it makes me feel like one of the recruits in “Fort Salem” who rather oddly seem to stomp their feet from left to right rapidly where ‘normal’ people would show their approval by clapping their hands when a round of applause is required !! If you find that cultural reference has gone right over your head, obviously you haven’t watched the series on BBC – which is a situation I find regularly happening to me when I try to be clever and tuned into TV now !!
When it comes to music though, I am very confident I know what I am talking about, especially the 70s & 80s soul, jazz-funk & disco era which makes up the bulk of my playlist each week. So not only do you get to hear some great tunes each Monday between 7 & 9pm, but you can also expect to discover some fascinating facts and interesting information about the artists and their careers !
