Neil Gits To Grips With Clingfilm

24th December 2023
Posted by Neil Matthew

It’s the time of year when a lot of us chaps find ourselves in the slightly unfamiliar surroundings of the family kitchen, trying to prepare food that we haven’t eaten since last December and re-acquainting ourselves with utensils that we struggled to use last year, all in the annual quest to get that Xmas dinner just right for our guests, bet they friends or family …

No such dramas at “Old Gits HQ” – it will just be me and my son Nathan eating whatever comes out of the fridge or freezer at whatever time he arrives after doing whatever university students do on Xmas Eve ! There’ll be no turkey, no cranbery sauce, no pigs in blankets and definitely no brussel sprouts … if all goes to plan I will be knocking up my legendary spaghetti & meatballs supreme, with mushrooms, peppers & sweetcorn in a lovely bolgonese sauce and if I don’t eat it for breakfast in a roll, I might even slice up the leftover sausage from today’s meal and slip it in the pan !

I did make sure though that I was stocked up with the other stuff you can’t do without along the way, items like clingfilm, aluminimum foil, kitchen roll, cream cleaner, sponge scourers and Fairy Liquid, after all you don’t want to be slumped on the sofa stuffed full of food trying to watch rubbish TV with a mountain of washing up waiting to be done until the shops re-open ! Clingfilm has always been a bit of a bogey item over the years for me, I’ve got some previous rolls of it in an awful mess, but I followed the “opening instructions” for my new roll I just purchased to the letter and think I may have cracked it this time so I am going into the kitchen this year supremely confident … what can possibly go wrong ?

I have no such concerns re the quality of music on my show – every single track is always hand-picked with great care and even though there is no live show on Monday 25th December, you can still enjoy your weekly fix of soul, jazz-funk & disco by visiting the “Listen Again” page and dipping into recent shows available on there.
