Neil Gits To See Conkers

9th October 2022
Posted by Neil Matthew

When I’m not charging round the country in my car, with a map in one hand and a camera in the other (not literally) I do spend a lot of the rest of my time indoors, either loading photos up online on my PC, hunting out songs for the show from my vinyl & CD collection or watching TV – plus sleeping and eating !! So it’s nice to find that happy medium between being stuck indoors and hitting the motorways, so I find now that I do enjoy a nice little walk now and again, ideally not too far from home.

It’s a good way to de-clutter your brain, allow new ideas to get in there and generally have some interesting thoughts to process – as long as you remember to urn your phone off and not stick anything in your ears either ! On my latest stroll around the home town on unchartered footpaths I walked around the back of one of my local pubs and saw that the ground was littered with horse chestnuts, not just the empty shells either, the whole things. Back in my school days you’d be lucky to see that sight – they’d have been swiped up within minutes of falling off the tree ! I mean, when did you last see two kids playing conkers ??

I’m all about nostalgia on my show, espcecially the 70s & 80s, and as you can often hear on a Monday between 7 & 9pm, I can go off at a tangent reminiscing about the ‘good old days’ as well as playing some marvellous old soul tunes from that era. But before I go off topic any further, here’s my latest playlist :
