Neil Gits To The IOW

18th August 2023
Posted by Neil Matthew

You’ve got to love an acronym , haven’t you ? During the week I was away on the Isle Of Wight for a mini break and in all my preparation beforehand & note-taking whilst there for my photo-shoot write up afterwards, I soon found myself constantly using ” IOW” ! The pix are now posted up on Facebook, if you can find them, so you can see where I went and what I saw for yourself – incredibly I only visited ONE football ground and that was an abandoned stadium opposite the Asda I popped into on the return to the ferry ! Well, “A13 Annie” was with me and she didn’t bring her knitting …

One of my loyal listeners “Popmaster Paul” cannot speak highly enough of the IOW, especially the West side, and we took some of his & “Dancin’ Dawnie’s” recommendations on board. Indeed the scenery on most of the island was wonderful, especially around The Needles, but one of the highlights was our lovely accomodation above a smashing pub that did the most wonderful food – you know me and my grub !! All too soon we were back on the ferry to Portsmouth where we eased ourselves back into normality with a good old KFC just off the A27 …

Usually when I go on a special trip I come back with a couple of song ideas for the show picked up along the way, but this was a strictly “no work” break for us both and it will be back to business as usual on Monday, although you can bet I’ll have the odd story to tell in between the cool mix of soul, jazz-funk & disco I always bring you. Here’s last wek’s playlist …
