Long term readers of these blogs will have a pretty good picture of my lifestyle and will have picked up on a number of constants from these regular “waffle fests” – one of which is that I like my food ! Most of what I eat might be considered “unhealthy” in this day and age but, hey, I am an “Old Git” and proud of it, so as you only get one short life I won’t be changing my ways in the foreseeable future, although my regular visits to the various “fast food” establishments en route to the studio have become much less than the almost weekly occurrence they were a few years ago. As for the near religious diversions to one of our local chain restaurants for a meal with Nathan when he was at primary school and joined me in the studio every Monday, they seem like ancient history now, shame …
Despite putting on quite a bit of weight due to comfort eating during my recent “issues”, that was mainly due to my diet seemingly consisting mainly of endless glasses of Pepsi and bars of chocolate as I worked my way through to “The Other Side” with no exercise whatsoever and all is good again now thankfully, finding myself in a position again where I can enjoy “normal” meals without any discomfort and just the usual middle-aged spread to be found under my chin beneath my T-shirt ! So now, when the chance presents itself to tuck in, I most definitely do and last week was quite exceptional …
On Wednesday I treated myself after a long day’s driving to a 3 piece meal at KFC (4 actually – they struggle with counting at my local branch!) then on Friday Ann and I ordered a big Chinese feast before “Movie Night” and on Saturday I pulled out all the stops on my last footy adventure of the season, wolfing down a bacon roll and double sausage egg McMuffin before an early start down to Weymouth, had a bumper bacon cheese burger at the ground before the match, then with it being such a beautiful day by the Dorset coast, I just HAD to make room for some fabulous fish n chips on he harbour before driving home. But as a meal just doesn’t feel like a meal without dessert, I promised myself that if I saw a McDonalds on the way back home, I would top the whole food & football fest off with a chocolate & raspberry McFlurry – which I did, even though there were doubts that I could physically fit any thing else into my stomach !! Yum !!
Of course, in the words of a classic 70s hit, “music is my first love and it will be my last” and even I will probably get tired of feeding my face before I lose the desire to bring you a tasty selection of terrific tracks from the soul, jazz-funk & disco world and here are the latest tunes you can gorge on via the “Listen Again” section of this website – next main course is on Monday !
