Listen: Radion Project walking & talking events in Basildon

A new arts projct is putting on some interesting events around the borough this month.

The Radion Project is running the following events:

Saturday 9th October 11am to 2pm

Basildon Borough Heritage will be running a series of talks at the green centre at Wat Tyler Country park where you will also receive a tour of their space and displays. Talks will include the history of the town, the role the group plays locally in preserving and commemorating the towns history including their past and current projects. You will also learn about the practicalities and importance of archiving. This event will have the least walking but you will have an opportunity to walk and enjoy the country park while you are there.

Sunday 10 October, 10am to 1pm

Gloucester Park Community Group will be giving a tour of the park which will include the history of the area, exploring local biodiversity and the history of the group, what they do and how they do it. You will also have the opportunity to get stuck in and help out on an activity such as working on new plots, weather depending.

Sunday 17th October, 10am to 1pm

Basildon Natural History Society will be giving a tour of Marks Hill Wood, a 43-acre nature reserve, which is run on an entirely voluntary basis. The terrain varies, and includes sections of ancient coppice woodland, more recent woodland, former plotland, hay meadow and ponds. The walk will be led by Glenn Jacobs the charimen of the society who will be able to share the history, biodiversity and importance of the area as well as insight into the history and workings of the group.
