Orsett Show launches poetry and photography competition

6th July 2020
Posted by Johnny Jenkins

Following the very difficult decision to cancel this year’s Orsett Show, the Show’s Organising Committee, together with the Show’s Main Sponsor, The Port of Tilbury, is holding a Poetry and Photography Competition with the winning entries being announced on what would have been Show Day, Saturday, 5th September 2020.

Paul Dale from The Port of Tilbury said “Whilst this year has been difficult for the Orsett Show and many other community events, we still need to build bigger and better plans for next year, marking this year’s Orsett Show with a competition is an important reminder of how our community can come together to celebrate local talent”.

Georgina Clark, Show Secretary, said “all of us involved with organising the Show were so disappointed that the Show had to be cancelled this year but are pleased that, along with our Main Sponsor The Port of Tilbury, we are able to offer a competition which will give the opportunity for all the budding poets and photographers to show off their handiwork.  We know the lockdown has enabled individuals to rekindle hobbies they once enjoyed or embrace new skills and we hope that we will give them the platform to share their works of art.  The winning Poems and Photographs will be on display at next year’s Show on Saturday, 4th September 2021”.

The winners from each class will receive:-

  • A signed trophy
  • Family tickets to the 2021 Show
  • £20 Amazon Voucher

All the information on how to take part in the competition can be found on our website – but please do not hesitate to email [email protected] if you need any further information or clarification.

The Orsett Show looks forward to receiving your entries.
