Virtual wine tasting the hottest drinks trend for 2020

Covid-19 has redefined how business is done, and the wine industry is no exception. Social distancing is one of the most noticeable effects of the pandemic, as  events,  eating out and wine bars became off limits. But rather than wait for things to get back to normal, many wine professionals are embracing change and moving their events online, especially wine tastings. 2020 has certainly provided a chance to bring the producer, to the consumer, virtually.

Home tastings, wine webinars and vineyard rambles have changed the way we drink. From the comfort of your own home, many of us have taken up the chance to learn about wine and meet the makers of the wine we are drinking, often from across the globe.  More time at home, and an innate curiosity to try something different to the usual supermarket offer has seen drinkers trying wines from the likes of Greece, Morocco and India. Hannibal Brown Wines have seen a huge increase in virtual tastings, bringing together friends, family and colleagues in uncertain times, through a love of wine. From mini DIY wine kits that contain a curated selection of wines, tasting guides and short quizzes through to corporate tastings on Zoom for 150+ people it ensures that parties and team building events can still take place, without the need to leave the house. As the UK enters winter, and many left uncertain on the future, it is imperative that we stay connected.

Aston spoke to both Pamela Gregory and Jude King from Hannibal Brown Wines to discuss about what they do in regards to virtual wine tasting.
