How’s your love life? Met anyone special? You just haven’t met the right person yet! Whether it comes from a smug coupled-up friend or a nosy relative, if you’re single you know these words all too well. Finding a meaningful relationship isn’t easy at the best of times, never mind during a pandemic. However, many Britons say they are experiencing single-shaming – despite being completely happy with being unattached.

The latest research from Match finds that over half of the UK’s singletons (52%) have experienced single-shaming since the start of the pandemic. Almost two-fifths (38%) say they have been pitied for not having a partner and living alone (30%), despite nearly two-thirds (59%) feeling content with their relationship status.

Aston spoke to Hayley Quinn, dating expert to discuss the
research as well as the stigma of being single, why “single shaming” is on the rise and also offer advice on how to handle single-shaming.
