The team at Gateway 97.8 will be broadcasting live election coverage from 10am on Friday 7th May, following the votes taking place across Essex on Thursday 6th May.
In Basildon and Thurrock, votes are taking place for some seats on the council. Across Essex County Council areas, votes are taking place for representatives in City Hall. In Essex, votes are taking place for the next Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for the county.
Coronavirus safety measures are in place on Thursday 6th May, with face coverings required and voters encouraged to bring their own pens.
On Friday 7th May, Aston Avery will anchor live election coverage on an extended Daytime programme from 10am to 3pm. Ros Connors will anchor live election coverage from 3pm to 6pm.
Political Editor Johnny Jenkins will be live at the count in Basildon all day, interviewing candidates and councillors and bringing listeners live election results throughout the day.
Basildon Council and local County Council seats are likely to be announced by the end of Friday 7th May. The Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner result is expected over the weekend or on Monday.
