Over the past year, the impact of charity on our lives has been undeniable: whether it was donating time or money to pandemic related causes, witnessing first-hand the positive effects of helping others, or relying on charity for ourselves.

Indeed, more than half of the UK’s population (55%) see charities as a vital part of British society, and 43% of us believe it’s more important than ever before for people to get involved with a charity because of COVID-19, according to new research from Ecclesiastical released in time for its annual 12 Days of Giving campaign.

The specialist insurer’s Christmas campaign enables communities to directly support the causes that mean the most to them, with 120 charitable organisations across the UK set to receive a £1,000 contribution. As winners are drawn at random, the more nominations a charity receives the higher its chances of winning, and entries are now open for Brits to nominate their favourite charity.

Now halfway through the nominations period, nearly 4,000 charities have been nominated across the country by over 139,000 peopleand Ecclesiastical is calling on the nation to cast their vote for their charity of choice. Thus far, nominations data has shown that Animals and Wildlife, Health, and Community are the top charitable causes for Brits.

Aston spoke to Chris Pitt from Ecclesiastical to tell us more about the 12 Days of Giving campaign.
