Residents and businesses from across the whole of Basildon district are invited to find out more about crime and community safety in the district at a public meeting hosted by Roger Hirst, Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to put their questions and concerns to a panel of experts which will include Roger Hirst, PFCC for Essex, Chief Insp Daniel McHugh of Essex Police and senior representatives from Essex County Fire and Rescue Services and Basildon Community Safety Partnership.

The meeting will take place at the Wick Community Centre, Silva Island Way, Salcott Crescent, Wickford, Essex, SS12 9NR on Monday 12th February, 2024, from 7pm to 8pm.

All people who live and work in Basildon district, including Basildon, Billericay, Wickford, Laindon, Pitsea and surrounding areas, are invited to attend.

Roger Hirst said: “Our public meetings are a great way to hear directly from local communities about any concerns they might have or issues they are experiencing.

“The meetings are also a great opportunity for us to brief residents on how we are working together with a range of partners to achieve the priorities in both our Police and Crime Plan and Fire and Rescue Plan.

“We will be updating attendees on the work being done around speeding motorists and extra investment in tackling anti-social behaviour in towns.

“Essex County Fire and Rescue Service will also be able to provide updates on their work in the area including the excellent prevention work they are doing to reduce the risk of harm.”

Attendees at the meeting can also learn more about current crime initiatives in the Basildon policing district.
