From December, a newly relocated Wickford Library opens its doors to residents.

The relocated modern and vibrant Library officially opens on Wednesday 8 December at the Willows Shopping Centre, with an official opening and day of fun planned for Saturday 11 December.

The more central site will replace the current 60 year old Library located at Market Road which will be closed from Wednesday 24 November 2021. While the library is temporarily closed residents can use BillericayLaindon or Fryerns Library.

The new library site will offer an enhanced service including a colourful children’s library with sensory equipment, baby change facilities and an accessible toilet.

It also includes spaces for people to sit, study, work or meet with friends. The more flexible space will also allow a variety of events to take place.

Residents will be also be able to visit the library for information and guidance on a variety of issues through the new Video Access Advice Point which will allow library users to speak to trained advisors at Basildon Citizens Advice.

Cllr Louise McKinlay, Cabinet Member for Community, Equality, Partnerships and Performance, said, “We will soon be opening the newly relocated Wickford Library, and I can’t wait for residents to explore all it has to offer.

“The current Market Road site has served Wickford residents over the years, however the new modern relocated library will allow even more residents to access our services.
