COVID-19 has revolutionised the way we are choosing to work, and research has shown that more than four in ten employees working from home are working longer hours than they would in a standard working day.

Not only are we working more, but Brit’s working hours are becoming increasingly flexible. Almost half aren’t getting up for work at the same time every day and 65% of people aren’t taking their break at their usual time. Over half of employees surveyed are interrupted during their working day by family members and 22% are dividing their time between a job and home-schooling children.

Employee’s variation in working hours is having an impact on collaboration. According to studies. the average length of a meeting has declined by 20.1%, from 1 hour to 0.79 hours, while the average meeting count rose from 5.9 meetings prior to coronavirus lockdowns to 6.9 meetings.

Aston spoke to Dieter Dehaemers, CEO and co-founder of Vectera to tell us more, and offer up some solutions to ensure we continue to work efficiently and collaboratively from home.
