Brits admit they avoid social interaction with others

New figures released today suggest that the pandemic’s social distancing measures are causing many people to avoid social interaction with others.

The research commissioned by Worcester Bosch surveyed 2,000 UK adults; 41 per cent of whom admitted they do not know how to greet someone anymore. Nearly half have gone as far as to avoid social interaction with anyone.

The sustained lack of contact with others has had a negative impact on people’s ability to interact comfortably with others they do not know – over a third admit they are unsure what to say when they greet someone. 26 per cent admit they feel uncomfortable if someone who is not a relative or a friend comes to the door and they have to greet them, whilst a quarter feel uneasy, and 15 per admit they are standoffish to others.

Aston spoke to behavioural expert Dr Peter Collett and Martyn Bridges from Worcester Bosch to discuss the research in further detail.
