Dr Dawn Harper on technology post pandemic

New Year’s resolutions are coming early this year as Britons vow to make health improvements that have been neglected during lockdown. Whilst we may have looked out for one another by social distancing, it seems many of us have forgotten how to look after ourselves properly and are still struggling to adjust to what is now the norm.

Latest research from Simplyhealth indicates that one of the lesser known effects of the COVID-19 outbreak is letting health and wellbeing slip by the wayside. Britons have experienced negative impacts on their mental (42%) and physical health. The research also shows that two in five (38%) are less active and a quarter (26%) are drinking more alcohol.

The research finds that nearly a third (29%) are eating more junk food and half (48%) believe that their willpower has reduced since the pandemic. As a result, 42% say their mental health has suffered and a further 38% have also found it more difficult to sleep; contributing towards a national lull in energy.

Aston spoke to Dr Dawn Harper, GP and medic from Channel 4’s Embarrasing Bodies to discuss the research as well as offer her advice
as to how Britons can get their mental and physical health and wellbeing back on track.
