Dr Sarah Jarvis on home cleanliness

As we continue to navigate the government’s roadmap out of lockdown through an overly optimistic lens, we cannot forget the huge challenges that will remain and are not simply eradicated with a single jab. Millions of Brits do not plan on getting vaccinated (25% of adults polled by Beko), plus the potency and effectiveness over time is still yet to be seen, as do the true timelines for the second doses.

Hygiene still needs to be at the forefront of everything we do from homes and kitchens to offices to schools. Since the first lockdown (March 2020) we have seen a huge increase in hygiene at home especially with the added pressure put on our homes; using them as offices (42%), gyms (44%), and as temporary classrooms (34%). People are now cleaning far more since the first lockdown and have even begun disinfecting their homes for the first time (81%), with a further 93% of the nation now cleaning more frequently including changing bedding more often according to the research by Beko.

Aston spoke to TV’s Dr Sarah Jarvis to discuss new research that looks into the nation’s attitudes towards cleanliness in the home and also offered her tips and advice on how people can stay safe and healthy moving forward.
