As the end of coronavirus restrictions looms, a major crisis of self-confidence is being uncovered with new research revealing four in ten UK adults feel nervous about being seen in public.
According to report commissioned by The 1:1 Diet by Cambridge Weight Plan, the vast majority (81%) of us have gained weight during the pandemic, while we are five times more likely to want to lose weight (41%) than change our hair (9%) or general style (7%) as we look to the future.
Concern may stem from the fact more than a third (36%) feel that friends and family members judge people if they have gained weight during the pandemic. As a result, only 10% say they feel great about how they look and are looking forward to integrating back into society.
