John Baron MP has today welcomed news that a submission of interest submitted by Essex County Council to the Department of Transport Major Route Network Fund for improvements to the A127 has been approved.

Essex County Council has now been invited to submit a full business case for the proposals which include junction improvements to straighten the main carriageway at the Fortune of War, and improve slip-roads at the Half Way House and Warley junctions. The expected cost for these upgrades is £22million.

John Baron said:

“I very much welcome this Government announcement. We local MPs have been campaigning for greater funding for our roads generally including the A127 – and it is good to see it paying off. The improvements will be welcomed by businesses and motorists alike. It will also help us meet our clean air targets.”
