Basildon Pride has released the following statement:
We are in unprecedented times.
The COVID-19 outbreak has very rapidly changed the way we live our lives each day.
The Basildon Pride Committee like many other organisations across the country has reflected upon current Government advice including the need for social distancing.
We have made the difficult decision to postpone all upcoming events until further notice including The Basildon Pride Festival on Saturday 5th September 2020.
It is unlikely that the festival will run as planned at any point during 2020.
As the situation improves we fully intend to run smaller events in the latter half of the year that will reflect the objectives of Basildon Pride and Basildon Pride Everyday. We will release further details relating to these plans as they become available.
We recognise that there are difficult times ahead and we are looking at other ways that we may be able to support the LGBT+ Community and the wider community in the Basildon Borough as we get through this period together.
Thank you for your support to date and we look forward to being back celebrating Inclusion and Diversity in the near future.
