Armed Forces Day is a chance to show your support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community; from currently serving troops to Service families, Veterans and Cadets.

This year, Armed Forces Day takes place on Saturday 29 June.

The celebrations begin in the borough on Monday 24 June at 11am when Cllr Derrick Fellowes, the Deputy Mayor of Basildon, will be joined by D-Day Veteran, Don Shepherd and fellow Veterans to raise the Armed Forces Day flag at the Basildon Centre.

On Saturday 29 June, Basildon Council in partnership with the Basildon Borough Civil Military Partnership Board (CMPB) have arranged an Armed Forces Day parade in Basildon Town Centre, which starts at 12 noon at Bairstow Eves and finishes in St MartinÂ’s Square.

The Mayor of Basildon, Cllr David Burton-Sampson, said:

“Showing support for our Armed Forces provides a much valued morale boost for the troops and their families.

“I am proud that here in Basildon, we have a tradition of marking Armed Forces Day and it is an honour for me, to be part of it.

Please come and join us for the parade to show how much our community appreciates and supports our Armed Forces both past and present.”
