Sleeping Beauty panto review

I had to privilage to attend the most recent Towngate Theatre pantomime Sleeping Beauty this past Friday 5th December.

I would have to say that the show is very funny especially for one bit which I cannot spoil as you have to go to see it. Nurse Nellie (played by Ian Hallard) was really good and on this occasion chose Ben as their love of their life for the show, which Ben was a good sport throughout the show. Carabosse (played by Sophie Ladds) was of course on point as Basildon’s favourite pantomime villain, the suspense she and drama she bought to the role was out of this world.

Fairy Moonbeam (played by Sophia Ragavelas) bought the light and shade to show especially with the audience participation as well. Aurora (played by Jazz Cave) was definitely the star of the show along with Jangles (played by Michael Aylotis) and Prince Charming (played by Thomas Griffiths) especially when all of them were in the scenes together.

If you haven’t seen Sleeping Beauty yet… I would reccomend you go and see it as it brings the enjoyment, the laughter and even the festive spirit to kick start your Christmas celebrations!

Sleeping Beauty is at Towngate Theatre in Basildon until Sunday 4th January 2026.
