From Monday, c2c will introduce a new timetable with reduced services due to staffing shortages as a result of the pandemic.
The train network has focused capacity in this new timetable around current travel patterns. This means it is only making limited reductions to:
- Early morning services, which are now busier than late-morning trains. In particular, increasing capacity on the earliest trains of the day
- Late-afternoon trains, as these are now typically busier than services leaving London after 18.00
- School trains to Southend in the morning peak, with five successive 12-car trains now arriving in Southend between 07.20 and 08.40
c2c is reducing the frequency of off-peak and late-night services more heavily, as these trains now have the lowest customer demand.
However these will be 8-carriage services, to maximise the space available onboard.
