Check your rubbish and recycling collection dates over Christmas

Residents are being urged to check their revised rubbish and recycling collection dates ahead of the Christmas period.

Basildon Council is delivering a collection calendar to households across the borough alongside the winter edition of Together magazine, with dates also available here: https://www.basildon.gov.uk/article/5888/Rubbish-bins-and-recycling-information

Chair of the Neighbourhoods and Public Spaces Committee Councillor David Harrison said:

“More waste than usual is produced at Christmas time so it’s a busy time for collection teams. They work tirelessly to ensure we continue to run a full service, with all rubbish and recycling cleared as soon as possible after the big day.

“I would like to take this opportunity to encourage residents to recycle as much as possible over the festive season by using orange boxes for glass, green bins for food waste and pink”

There will be no bulky item collection service between Wednesday 25 December and Thursday 2 January, and no crunch service after Saturday 21 December until Saturday 25 January.

Barleylands Recycling Centre will close at 2.30pm on Christmas Eve and reopen as usual on Friday 27 December 2018. It will then close again at 2.30pm on New Year’s Eve and reopen on Thursday 2 January 2019.
