Free knife crime and mental health workshops

22nd August 2019
Posted by Johnny Jenkins

A free Essex County FA training and development event for Welfare Officers discussing knife crime and youth mental health will take place on Thursday 3rd October in Wickford.

The evening will consist of three workshops from 6:45-9:45pm at the Wickford Collaborative Learning Centre in Grange Avenue. All three are on topics very much on the safeguarding agenda and Welfare Officers can opt to attend one or all three of the sessions.

Each workshop will run for approximately 45 minutes and there is limited availability, so Welfare Officers are advised to secure places as soon as possible. The subjects will include:

  • Knife Crime and County Lines: delivered by Colchester United FC
  • Youth Mental Health: What might trigger mental illness? What does mental health illness look like in a young person? How can we include parents and carers?
  • Youth Experiences in Football: a young person’s experience and the effects of poor practice, plus how to educate parents and carers

Helen Hever, Designated Safeguarding Officer for the Essex County FA, explained:

“We’ve offered conferences over the past few years which have been very successful. For this event we have decided to offer something a bit different. We’re looking forward to welcoming, and networking with, Essex’s very knowledgeable Welfare Officers on the night.”

Please select which workshop/s you’d like to visit when booking online at www.essexfa.com. Car parking is available on-site and refreshments will be provided. If you have any questions, please contact Chloe Hookins via [email protected] or (01245) 393093.
