Get involved in shaping future plans for South Essex?

How would you like to be involved in shaping future plans for South Essex? That’s the question being asked of residents and businesses across the region in a formal consultation that ends later this month.

Councils across South Essex (Basildon, Brentwood, Castle Point, Rochford, Southend and Thurrock and Essex County Council) are working together to prepare the South Essex Plan. This joint plan will be a bold new blueprint to deliver better infrastructure across south Essex, to boost housing and create skills jobs and training opportunities up to 2050.

The councils will want residents and businesses to have their say on the plan as it is developed.

Before that can happen the councils need to agree a Statement of Community Involvement setting out how residents and businesses will be consulted. It is this Statement of Community Involvement that is being consulted on now.

Chairman of Basildon Council’s Infrastructure and Inclusive Growth Committee, Councillor Adele Brown, said:

“Hearing what residents and businesses have to say about the South Essex Plan will be absolutely vital, so we need to be clear now how we intend to make that involvement real and engaging.

“We need to think through what information people will need to make their views known, and how we will get that information to people in a way that makes it easy for them to understand and respond to. That’s what we want views on during this consultation.”

To have your say, visit www.southessexplan.co.uk to submit your comments and for more information. The consultation will run until Monday 27 January 2020. You can also view the consultation documents during the consultation period at the main Basildon Council Offices in St Martin’s Square and at Basildon, Billericay and Wickford Libraries.
