John Baron, MP for Basildon & Billericay, has welcomed a £4,530,000 investment from the Government’s ‘Getting Building Fund’ which is aimed at fast-tracking shovel ready projects across the length and breadth of the country.
The money has been allocated to the Swan Modular Housing factory in Basildon, where a new facility will operate. John Baron has been lobbying Government for this investment.
The factories will provide homes across Swan’s programme and for third parties including Queensway (Southend), Purfleet (Thurrock) and Blackwall Reach (Tower Hamlets) – in total a pipeline of some 8,000 new homes.
John Baron MP (Con, Basildon and Billericay) said:
“This is very welcome news particularly as we lobby Government for inward investment. It also recognises the good work of the Swan factory.
“As a result of this Government £4,530,000 investment, the new facility could deliver up to an additional 1,000 homes per year, and more if second shifts were introduced.
“My congratulations go to the team at Swan.”
