Australian cricket captain Aaron Finch insists they’ve no problem getting motivated for games, despite playing in empty stadiums. The tourists start the one-day international series against England at Old Trafford tomorrow. All three of the matches are being played without spectators due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Four-time Formula 1 world champion Sebastian Vettel will join Racing Point next season. The Silverstone-based team will become Aston Martin in 2021. Vettel was a free agent after Ferrari opted not to extend his deal beyond the end of the year. He’ll take the place of Sergio Perez at the team.

Serena Williams remains on course for a record-equalling 24th Grand Slam singles tennis title. The American six-time US Open champion fought back from a set down to reach the last four of the tournament by beating Tsvetana Pironkova of Bulgaria. She’ll now face unseeded Victoria Azarenka after the Belarusian thrashed Elise Mertens 6-1, 6-love. In the men’s draw, Dominic Thiem beat Alex de Minaur in straight sets.

Bowers and Pitsea FC have progressed to the next round of the FA Youth Cup. They were scheduled to play Bishops Stortford last night but the game was cancelled after Stortford withdrew from the tournament. This means that Bowers and Pitsea automatically go into the next round.
