Here’s the sports news with Tommy Bennett:

England’s mens football team are in Nations League action tonight with a fixture against Denmark. England are expected to make a few changes for the game and will be without Kyle Walker as he was sent off in Saturday’s game against Iceland. The Lions will also be without youngsters Mason Greenwood and Phil Foden who have been sent home after breaching UEFA coronavirus protocols during the teams stay in Reykjavik.

The mass participation event, ParkRun, is set to resume in England by the end of October. The weekly event was suspended worldwide in March due to the Coronavirus. ParkRun have since introduced a government approved framework with minimal changes to ensure the programme can start up again as safely as possible. The organisation was founded in 2002 and expands across 2 countries and runners and walkers can take part in 5km events for free on Saturday mornings.

Essex CCC are edging closer to retaining their County Championship title after a fantastic bowling display from Arron Beard put them in control against Middlesex. Beard took 3 wickets in 21 balls to put early pressure on Middlesex in their second innings. The bowler says his bowling is “probably the best it has been ever been,”. Middlesex ended the day on 123 for 6 and a 25 run lead and will need something special to give Essex a tricky 2nd innings.

Basildon United will play their final pre-season fixture tonight as they welcome Heybridge Swifts U23s to their home ground. The club are welcoming fans into the stadium tonight with many measures in place to ensure that fans are as safe as possible from the coronavirus. The Bees start their season campaign with a trip to Stansted on Saturday in the FA Cup preliminary rounds.
