Essex Police are progressing their investigation into an assault on a boy in Pitsea.

The 12-year-old victim has been treated for a knife wound to his back following the incident in Mayfair Avenue yesterday afternoon, Monday 24 August.

Detective Inspector Sophie Hammonds said:

“He is now in a stable condition in hospital, where he is being kept in as a precaution.
“It’s fortunate his injury was not more serious and we remain in touch with the victim and his family.
“We are progressing our investigation into the circumstances behind the incident and four teenagers remain in custody for questioning.
“At this stage we believe the victim was assaulted by people known to him following a verbal disagreement.”

A girl and three boys, all aged 14, were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

Officers have been carrying out patrols in the area and would like to thank witnesses who have spoken to us already.
