Posted by Johnny Jenkins

There will be spooky goings-on in Thurrock’s parks this October half-term with a fun-packed programme of Active Parks activities.

Thurrock Council has organised a number of free games and activity sessions from Monday, 28 October to Thursday, 31 October to boost residents’ connection with nature, the great outdoors and the borough’s parks. All events, which take place from 10.30am to 12.30pm, are subject to weather conditions and demand on the day. Activities will be held at:

  • Corringham Town Park on Monday, 28 October – Halloween games
  • West Thurrock Memorial Ground on Tuesday, 29 October – Halloween games and spooky clay faces
  • Dilkes Park, South Ockendon, on Wednesday, 30 October – spooky clay faces and games in the ball court
  • Aluric Close open space, behind Chadwell St Mary Library, on Thursday, 31 October – Halloween games

Cllr Aaron Watkins, Cabinet member for Environment and Sports and Leisure, said:

“This next round of outdoor activities comes off the back of a successful summer of Active Parks sports and crafts, which also helped officially open the new playground at Horndon on the Hill Recreation Ground. We were delighted with the uptake to the summer programme and continue to encourage children, young people and adults to take full advantage of the borough’s parks.

“Local friends of park groups also organise park activities, and our team will be supporting existing community groups’ events, such as the Flowers Estate Residents Group in South Ockendon, and at sites in Elm Road, Grays, Bulphan, Davy Down and Langdon Hills. Keep an eye out for other events near you.”

No booking is necessary and residents can turn up on the day.To volunteer at any events or to provide suggestions for future events, email [email protected]For more information, including session dates and times, visit thurrock.gov.uk/activeparks
