Today, Friday 1 November 2019, Thurrock Council joined Essex Police and other partners who supported their response, in a one minute silence as a mark of respect for the 39 victims who were tragically found on the morning of Wednesday 23 October in Eastern Avenue.
Leader of Thurrock Council, Cllr Rob Gledhill, said:
“My deepest condolences go out to the families and friends of the 39 victims who were found in this tragic incident.
“I am extremely proud of the way out blue light services, council officers and all other partners have responded in the wake of such a tragedy. I would like to pass my personal thanks to Essex Police who have worked with efficiency around the clock during this difficult time.
“Thurrock Council has been assisting Essex Police and all partners from the moment this incident was discovered. We appreciate this will be a lengthy investigation and we will continue to assist Essex Police and all partners, whilst ensuring all of the services we provide to the residents of our borough are delivered.”
A book of condolence has been opened in the reception of Thurrock Council’s Civic Offices, along with a temporary area for floral tributes next to the Civic Offices, for those wishing to pay their respects to the 39 victims of this incident.
Mulberry Gardens will be open this weekend 8am to 4pm on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 November to access the floral tributes. The Civic Offices are open from 8am to 5:15pm, Monday to Thursday, and from 8am to 4:45pm on Fridays.To get the most up to date statements on the developments of the investigation please visit the Essex Police news website.
