Visitors to many council-owned car parks can benefit from free parking over the festive period from Friday 20 December 2024 to Sunday 5 January 2025.
Councillor Aidan McGurran, Cabinet Member for Environment and Leisure, announced the initiative at a meeting of the Cabinet on Monday 9 December 2024.
The free parking window will give residents and visitors a chance to enjoy the festive season without the worry of parking fees, while also encouraging people to shop local and support businesses in the heart of their communities.
The following council-owned car parks are included:
- High Street, Billericay
- Radford Crescent, Billericay
- Lake Meadows, Billericay
- Wickford Main, Wickford
- Ladygate Shopping Centre, Wickford
- Wickford Swimming Pool, Wickford
Councillor McGurran said:
“This festive season, we want to make it easier for residents and visitors to pick-up last-minute gifts and enjoy the winter sales, while enjoying everything our vibrant towns have to offer. This is about giving back to our residents, supporting our local economy and celebrating our local businesses.”
Paul Edwards, Director and Owner of Geek Garage in Wickford High Street, welcomed the news:

The last day of free parking in the above council-owned car parks will be Sunday 5 January 2025.
