Mum and daughter team crafting their way through lockdown

When COVID first caused schools to be shut and children to be taught from home, Lynda noticed that Fifi was missing her friends and struggling with the transition from school to home learning. At only 5 she didn’t understand why she couldn’t go to school and Lynda noticed she seemed quite stressed about it. To help, Lynda started making crafts for Fifi so she had something fun to do during the day around school work, and to take her mind off all that she was missing out on.

These boxes went down a treat with Fifi and Lynda saw her mood improve, so she started making them for other friends and family members too. Seeing the positive impact these crafts were having, Lynda, who is a small business consultant, developed these boxes into The Happy Craft Box

The pair caught the eye of Holly Tucker MBE, founder of Not On The Highstreet, who invited them to represent small businesses as part of ‘Campaign Shop Independent’. Lynda and Fifi have now sent these boxes all across the UK via Not on the Highstreet, and the pair have recently been featured in The Telegraph (https://www.telegraph.co.uk/women/life/started-lockdown-business-four-year-old-daughter/).

Ever since the business started growing, Lynda has had to up her production – and now lists Fifi as her Chief Product Tester and Head of Quality Control! Lynda says she’s been ‘blown away with the support’ they’ve received, and that ‘it’s an honour to help my little daughter learn about running a business and help children cope’.
