DIGITAL BLUES ON GATEWAY 97.8 – TODAY – WEDNESDAY 26TH JUNE 2013

26th June 2013
Posted by Ashwyn Smyth

This week’s edition of the British Blues Awards 2013 nominated Digital Blues on Gateway 97.8, is an eclectic mix of new and old from across the blues & real r’n’b spectrum.

There is a final play of Tom Doughty’s song chosen by Digital Blues’ listeners for the Kevin Thorpe Memorial Award – voting in the British Blues Awards 2013 closes on the 30th!

In the gig guide there are tracks from Katie Bradley and Shaggy Dogs whilst there are slices of birthday cake for Georgie Fame, Big Bill Broonzy and Doc Pomus (with one of his songs from Connie Lush).

On the new release front there are tracks from the IBBA Album of the month from Albany Down plus Stomp & Holler, Sam Hare, Federal Charm, Hamilton Loomis, Kara Grainger, The Proof and Safehouse from Vol 3 of Jock’s Juke Joint.

There is a fourplay featuring the Royal Southern Brotherhood, Mike Zito with Delbert McClinton, Cyril Neville and Devon Allman plus great tracks from The Heritage Blues Orchestra, Eric Bibb, Hugh Lawrie, Bonnie Raitt and The Bo Keys.

That is a pretty tasty selection even if I do say so myself.
