Chef Molly Robbins celebrating National Baking Week

This week is National baking Week and cake artist Molly Robbins is on hand this to help Brits channel their passion and elevate their baking skills to the next level.

Research commissioned by Renshaw into our baking habits found that 38% of people said they have baked over twenty times in the last 12 months, whilst the activity seems to have a therapeutic effect on our personal and mental wellbeing. 65% of people said they found baking relaxing, whilst a further 37% also found it rewarding.

Lockdown has had a positive impact on home-baking and provided people with time to discover baking, rekindle their interest or make the leap to become a professional baker. The latter trend is particularly evident, with the research finding that 23% of those surveyed admitted they want to improve their baking skills, and a separate study also estimating that there was an 157% increase in home-baking businesses over the past year.
