English Tourism Week

Today marks the start of English Tourism Week, the annual week dedicated to celebrating England’s tourism industry and emphasising the importance of tourism to communities across the country.

Tourism is one of England’s largest and most valuable industries, supporting hundreds of thousands of small-to-medium sized businesses, employing 2.6 million people and, in 2022, generating £66 billion for the economy in domestic visitor spending.

Taking place from 15-to-24 March, English Tourism Week sees the industry come together to highlight tourism’s regional economic importance and to help showcase the innovation, quality and range of products and services on offer to boost domestic breaks.

To coincide with English Tourism Week, VisitEngland’s Tourism Superstar 2024 competition will also conclude during the week, with voting open until midnight on the 24th of March and with the winner announced once the week has come to an end.

Aston spoke to Andrew Stokes, VisitEngland director.
