Food Fomo stops adults from trying to lose weight

Half of UK adults (49%) say they’ve put off trying to lose weight due to ‘FOMO’ (fear of missing out) – with missing out on favourite foods and social events fuelling this fear.

Foods people fear missing out on most are chocolate (29%), takeaways (24%), fish and chips (21%) and fry ups (18%).

More than three quarters of people who responded to the poll by Slimming World* also said they get pleasure from eating their favourite foods (77%) and two in three (64%) feel passionately about the food they eat.

Aston spoke to Professor James Stubbs from University of Leeds and Jade Scanlon.
