#FoodTok – we spend 11 full days a year watching food content online

Whether you became a banana bread expert during lockdown, purchased an air fryer or you’re still figuring your way around the kitchen, it’s likely you’ve tried at least one social media food trend!

In fact, new research shows Brits spend five hours a week, equivalent to 11 full days a year, watching food content online, with 18-24-year-olds even more engrossed, spending 17 full 24-hour days glued to screens watching food fads.

As #FoodTok surpassed 61 billion views on TikTok, it’s no surprise that almost half (49%) of Brits say they’ve been influenced by social media to try out a food trend at home.

Despite all these tasty recipes and a rise in people donning their aprons to get creative in the kitchen, research from Flora shows only a quarter of Brits (25%) think about how these trends might impact their health.
