Last weekend saw lots of great Motorsport action with the BTCC heading to Snetterton and F1 heading to Portugal for the Portuguese GP. The Spa 24 Hours was also on as well last weekend.
BTCC Snetterton Results
Race 1
1st: Colin Turkington (WSR Team BMW)
2nd: Tom Ingram (Toyota Gazzo Racing UK with Ginsters)
3rd: Jake Hill (MB Motorsport Accelerated By Blue Square)
- Lap 1 contact at Riches involving: Tom Oliphant, Aiden Moffat – Ash Sutton and Ollie Jackson.
- Jake Hill clips the back of the Toyota Corolla of Tom Ingram at Montreal.
- Tyre temperature played a huge part due to soggy conditions in race 1.
Race 2
1st: Colin Turkington (WSR Team BMW)
2nd: Tom Ingram (Toyota Gazzo Racing UK with Ginsters)
3rd: Ash Sutton (Laser Tools Racing)
- Safety Car: Team Hard’s Jack Goff crashes out on Lap 11 on the exit of Riches and his Volkswagen CC is severely damaged.
- Rory Butcher and Tom Ingram collide on Lap 14 at Montreal.
- Last lap contact between Jake Hill and Dan Cammish at Murray’s.
- Both BMW 1 Series cars collide. (Stephen Jelley and Carl Boardley)
Race 3
1st: Ollie Jackson (Motorbase)
2nd: Adam Morgan (Carlube Triple R Racing)
3rd: Colin Turkington (WSR Team BMW)
- Huge last lap contact between Motorbase’s Rory Butcher and Speedworks’s Tom Ingram at Murray’s.
- Dan Cammish and Excelr8’s Chris Smiley make contact midway through the race (BTC Racing’s Josh Cook also got in the wars with Cammish as well).
F1 headed to Portimao in Portugal for the Portuguese GP. The Autodromo De Internacional De Algarve played host to Round 11 of the 2020 FIA F1 Championship.
F1 Portuguese GP (Top 3 Drivers)
1st: Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes)
2nd: Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes)
3rd: Max Verstappen (Red Bull)
Highlights
- Lap 1 mayhem including Red Bull’s Max Verstappen collision with Racing Point’s Sergio Perez at T4.
- Mclaren’s Carlos Sainz led early on as rain fell early on.
- Racing Point’s Lance Stroll collided with Mclaren’s Lando Norris at T1. (The Canadian was given a 5 second time penalty for causing a collision)
- Lewis Hamilton is now the most successful F1 driver of all time after winning his 92nd F1 GP in Portugal. (Hamilton now breaks Michael Schumacher’s record of 91 wins).
