Motorsport Update- 5th October

The first week of October for motorsport action was fairly quiet, however on the news scene, there is plenty to talk about. Below is some of the latest news stories from the motorsport community:

  • Honda have announced they will leave F1 at the end of the 2021 season.  
  • Anthony Davidson admits he is unsure about his future in the FIA World Endurance Championship. He currently drives for Jota in the LMP2 Class as Davidson finished second in the Oreca 07 Gibson during the 24 Hours of Le Mans driving alongside Antonio Felix Da Costa and Roberto Gonzalez.
  • Power Maxed Racing have confirmed that 2017 Ginetta GT4 Supercup AM Class Champion, Jac Constable will contest in Rounds 19, 20 and 20 of the Championship at Croft. Constable will drive the Vauxhall Astra as Power Maxed Racing have taken a sabbatical from the 2020 championship with drivers, Jason Plato and Matt Jackson on the sidelines due to the Covid-19 pandemic. 
  • F1 will be heading to the Nurburgring for the Eiffel GP next week. The cars will use the shorter GP Circuit and was well remembered for Niki Lauda’s horrific crash in a Ferrari 312 T2 in 1976 on the infamous Nordschleife. The sport last raced there in 2013 with Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel holding off a late charge from the Lotus of Kimi Raikkonen to win the race.
  • The BTCC will be heading to Croft for the R19, 20 and 21 of the Championship with Laser Tools Racing’s Ash Sutton leading the Championship by 4 Point’s from Team BMW’s Colin Turkington.
