How to inspire teenage girls on IWD

In recognition of International Women’s Day, Girls Out Loud, a social enterprise dedicated to the empowerment of young girls, has conducted an extensive analysis, exposing the unsettling state of media representation of women. Meticulously analysing 23,716 conversations across TV and Radio, the findings shed light on a systemic issue that continues to perpetuate stereotypes and sexism, overshadowing the achievements of prominent female figures who serve as role models for the younger generation.

In 2023, market research firm Fly Research unveiled insights on the adult role models young girls look up to. Girls Out Loud has delved deeper into how these women, identified as the top ten confidence role models for kids, are portrayed within the media. The results are a clear reflection of the narratives young girls are exposed to daily, narratives that shape their perceptions, aspirations, and self-esteem.
