Is it possible to live in an eco-friendly lifestyle during a cost of living crisis?

A new study conducted by The Green Company has revealed mixed feelings among the British public when it comes to maintaining environmentally conscious shopping habits during a cost-of-living crisis.

The data shows that almost half (48%) of UK adults are willing to make some small sacrifices to be more eco-friendly; however, the majority (65%) still opt for single-use products over reusable or green alternatives most of the time. But this is one of the biggest choices Brits can make in order to reduce waste. It may seem small on a personal level, but our decisions can lead to consequences like more than 109 million plastic laundry packs ending up in landfills and the ocean, or being burnt, every single year.

Furthermore, the study showed that less than half of UK adults (45%) trust large companies’ claims that they are being eco-conscious. This lack of trust may be attributed to the prevalence of greenwashing, where companies make exaggerated or false claims about their environmental practices to attract customers.
