Listen: have we lost our social skills?

Half of Brits (43 per cent) feel they have lost their EDGE in recent times, because of working from home and fewer social interactions.

And despite a return to normality, 44 per cent still feel anxious about situations they used to feel confident about.

Chatting with someone and doing face-to-face business presentations are just some of the activities Brits are more nervous about than they were pre-pandemic.

The study commissioned by HUX found that 47 per cent of us now feel nail-bitingly uncomfortable in social situations, whether that’s going for a drink or attending a work meeting in person. Meanwhile, more than two-thirds of Brits (38 per cent) think that as a nation we’ve become less confident about going out and socialising.

Aston spoke to psychologist and therapist Dr Becky Spelman and Damian Byrne, co-founder of HUX Health.
