Listen: Sharron Davies MBE on osteoarthritis

Approximately 5.4 million people are living with osteoarthritis in their knees, and yet the ‘Under Pressure’ report, released today (Tuesday 4 June), highlights huge NHS waiting lists for physiotherapy and potential surgical intervention.

The findings also reveal that 80% of people are resigned to the fact that joint pain is just an unavoidable part of getting older, while 67% admitted it was their “biggest concern” about ageing.

Raised awareness for new nonsurgical treatments can support patients wishing to delay or even avoid knee replacement surgery.

Aston spoke to Olympic silver medalist swimmer Sharron Davies MBE & Andrew Miller, consultant trauma & orthopaedic surgeon.
