This week marks Road Safety Week and now new research highlights what drivers believe to be the main causes of accidents on UK roads.
When it comes to making our roads safer, almost two-thirds of drivers (60%) believe that there should be stricter penalties imposed for traffic violations, with 2 in 5 (43%) drivers agreeing newly qualified motorists should be banned from driving after 10pm, in a bid to make our roads safer.
In a somewhat contentious view, nearly half of drivers (46%) agree motorists should face mandatory retesting after they retire, in a bid to ensure all drivers permitted on the road are safe to be behind the wheel. However, almost 6 in 10 (59%) agree new drivers under the age of 21 should be banned from carrying passengers of a similar age for six months after passing their test.
