You’d be forgiven for thinking that every other day a new dating app pops up into existence that you should be on, and with it comes the task of creating your profile. Now comes the question of how honest you will be…

Honesty has always been the best policy not just for your heart but also your head. And now the people at Badoo as well as the Mental Health Foundation are imploring us all to date a little more honestly, scrap the little white lies and be yourself, or else how can you expect the same?

New research has laid bare the level of mental strain it’s causing us all in pursuit of honesty. This has led to more than of a third (40%) of those surveyed claiming that taking the first steps on dating apps brought on mental wellbeing concerns. Which surprisingly stay relatively similar between the sexes.

Aston spoke to Chris O’Sullivan from Mental Health Foundation and Gemma Grainger, counsellor to discuss the value of honesty in the modern dating world.
