One in seven adults now suffering with Dry Eye Disease

Has your eyesight gotten worse recently?

According to new figures released today from eyecare experts Théa, a fifth of UK adults are reporting that their eye health has deteriorated over the last 18 months.

It seems the British population are simply not prioritising their eyes as only 9 per cent say they have actively been trying to look after their eyes doing things such as taking regular breaks from their screens.

With one in eight reporting uncomfortable eyes, it’s unsurprising that more than one in seven of the UK population are suffering with Dry Eye Disease which can lead to more serious infections or can cause permanent damage to the eye in more serious cases, if left untreated. Our everyday habits such as makeup, screen use, wearing contact lenses and mask wearing can make eye conditions worse.

Aston spoke to optometrist and media eye doctor Sarah Farrant.
