Rishi Sunak’s Net Zero target U-turn leads to heated debate

The Prime Minister is expected to face continued questions over his decision to U-turn on key climate targets, as he heads up his first Conservative Party Conference in office.

Rishi Sunak is in Manchester, with Net Zero at the very heart of Tory conversations with a host of talks on net zero including speakers from the industry, reacting to the Conservatives decision to push back the bank on purchasing new petrol cars from 2030 to 2035 and delaying the target of eliminating gas boilers.

But despite Rishi’s reservations, research by OVO Energy found the majority (61%) of Brits are considering green technology for financial savings on their monthly bills, with a third (36%) looking to live more sustainably, with options like heat pumps.

Aston spoke to Grainne Regan, head of heat at OVO Energy and Adam Chapman, founder of the Heat Geek.
